Statement of preliminary issues available for Sonoco's clearance application to acquire T.T.L Pacific
The Commerce Commission has published a statement of preliminary issues relating to an application received from Sonoco New Zealand Limited seeking clearance to acquire T.T.L Pacific Limited. Both companies manufacture glued paper cores and tubes which are used for packaging.
The statement of preliminary issues outlines the key competition issues the Commission currently considers will be important in deciding whether to grant clearance. Background
Sonoco New Zealand Limited manufactures and supplies glued paper-based cores, tubes and packaging for the cores around which products such as cling film, tapes, carpets, paper and newsprint are wound. They also manufacture and supply cylindrical packages for consumer products and construction formers for the manufacture of concrete pillars and other cavities in solid concrete. It has three manufacturing plants that are located in Auckland, Kawerau and Christchurch.
T.T.L Pacific Limited is a privately owned company. It supplies a smaller range of glued paper cores and tubes. Its sole manufacturing plant is in Auckland.
