Cycling the length of New Zealand to promote a strategy to build resiliency in New Zealand young people.

Eight cyclists will ride into Tauranga's CBD from Bluff on 28th of Febuary at 3:30pm, to promote the Circle of Courage Model as a way for New Zealand communities to build positive relationships with their young people and reduce at risk behaviour.

The challenge of Circle of Courage Model is for every adult in New Zealand to get to know five young people by name and help them to experience:

Belonging: so that they can say "I am loved." Generosity: so that they can say "I have a purpose in life." Mastery: so that they can say "I can succeed." Independence:
so that they can say "I have the power to make decisions."

The Circle of Courage team would like to invite you to welcome the riders when they arrive in Tauranga CBD on 28th Febuary 2007. An official welcome will be held in the Red Square at 3.30pm and your presence would show your concern and support of the need for our young people to be included and valued in Tauranga.

The Circle of Courage team will also be hosting a free evening seminar around Building resiliency and how local communities can do this with their young people. This will be held at Otumoetai Action Centre in Pavilion Room 1, at 7:30pm.

If you would like to attend this free seminar please send a reply to erin.linda@paradise.net.nz with your name, organisation and how many will be attending.

For further information on both the Circle of Courage Tour, and the Evening Seminar, please see the attached flyer for more details. Please feel free to distribute this email to all your staff and other networks that you may be involved in.

Thank you for the work you do with the young people of Tauranga. We look forward to meeting with you and sharing this model of building resiliency which we hope can support the work you currently do.
