Two new faces in White Ferns squad

Two Canterbury Magicians earned call-ups to international duty when the White Ferns squad was named for the up coming Rose Bowl series against Australia.

Right-arm pace bowler Kelly Anderson and opening batsman and spin bowler Frances Mackay were included in the squad after performing well during the domestic competitions. Mackay has been named in both the White Ferns’ One-Day and Twenty20 teams while Anderson has been named in the One-Day side.

White Ferns coach Gary Stead said both players have been performing consistently well during the domestic Action Cricket Cup and Action Cricket Twenty20 competitions. “Mackay has been the form batsman in the 50-over competition and a consistent performer with the ball in both competitions,” he said. “Anderson has been extremely consistent with the ball and deserves her promotion to the next level.”

Youngster Natalie Dodd has been included in the Emerging Players squad while Blaze all-rounder Lucy Doolan has been selected for the ODI squad. Otago Sparks keeper Katey Martin retains the gloves.

The White Ferns face Australia in three ODIs and three International Twenty20 matches in Invercargill and Lincoln starting February 18.
