Popular Auckland eatery Sri Mahkota has opened its third restaurant on Symonds Street in Auckland’s CBD.

Owner Han Chin is bringing a sublime Malaysian food experience to Aucklanders – specialty dishes include Malaysian Fried Tofu, Fish Noodle Soup, and Salt & Pepper Squid, together with ubiquitous Malaysian dishes such as satay, rendang and char kway teow.

Chin’s favourite though is the Nestum Prawns – succulent prawns in an egg and oat coating.

Malaysian cuisine is a melting pot of flavours – a blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian food traditions with Thai, Portuguese and Middle Eastern influences.

The new restaurant is at the top of Symonds Street - 207 Symonds Street, Newton Auckland, (09) 302 3038. Sri Mahkota’s other two restaurants are located in East Tamaki and Epsom.

Sri Mahkota is a member of the Malaysia Kitchen Programme for NZ – a year-long campaign initiated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) to educate consumers about Malaysian cuisine and to encourage trial.
