Germans celebrate Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc
Leading German magazine Weinwirtschaft has just announced their “Top 100 Wines of the Year 2010” with Saint Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 placed at number one in the international white wine category.
Germany is one of the 55 world wine markets that Saint Clair Family Estate exports to. The magazine’s international challenge is open to all wine importers, who are invited to submit the best wines from their portfolio. Requirements for submission include that at least 10,000 bottles have been sold in the German market in 2010, and that the price is greater than €3 all year round.
Obtaining first place in this category endorses Saint Clair’s excellent quality along with the best price performance of all New Zealand sauvignon blancs. Saint Clair Family Estate has been exporting to the German market for 14 years, and is understandingly proud of this recent achievement.
“The Saint Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is true to style,” comments Hamish Clark, Senior Winemaker of Saint Clair Family Estate.
“It is an all-encompassing wine which enlightens the taste buds - crisp, clean, dry (but with plenty of fruit sweetness) and refreshing. It is not surprising that the German market loves this wine, as it is one of the best-selling wines in the Saint Clair range and popular all over the world.”
Saint Clair Family Estate has the reputation for being a leading New Zealand wine producer with international acclaim. This success in the German market further cements the status of the family-owned Marlborough winery.
