Grant Available For King Edward Street Facades
The Dunedin City Council has launched a one-off grant for South Dunedin building owners which aims to help to improve the overall look of King Edward Street.
The grant offers funds for materials, equipment hire and labour towards cleaning and painting facades, and towards veranda maintenance work for building facades that face onto King Edward Street.
“This is just the first small step in starting the process of revaluing and revitalising a hugely important part of Dunedin’s past and its future,” says Mayor Dave Cull
The grant will be delivered, with support from Hirepool and Resene Paints Ltd, through discounted equipment hire and paint purchase for successful applicants.
The store manager of Resene Paints Ltd Dunedin, Henry van Turnhout, says, “Resene Paints are delighted to be involved as support partners in the beautification programme planned for King Edward Street. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in creating the true heritage value of the area.”
Mark Rietveld, Branch Manager, Hirepool Dunedin, says his staff are also looking forward to working with King Edward Street building owners and the Dunedin City Council on this project. “We hope everyone gets behind the initiative and make’s use of this brilliant opportunity,” he says.
