Political Survey Not Council’s
Manukau City Council has received several complaints from the public about a research company conducting a telephone poll in the city asking people if they know who the Mayoral candidates are and who they are going to vote for.
The customers complaining to council say that the callers are claiming their survey has been commissioned by Manukau City Council.
This is not true. The council has not engaged, and would not engage, any such survey.
To make an untrue claim to be conducting a survey on behalf of an organisation is a serious breach of the professional ethics governing the survey industry. It is also likely to be a breach of the Fair Trading Act. The council will consider its legal options if it receives evidence that these claims are continuing to be made.
