Call still out for Rugby World Cup Volunteers in the Bay of Plenty
We want you and you and you too! Yes, the Bay of Plenty Rugby World Cup campaign is still looking for volunteers to help out by registering to be a volunteer for this fantastic event which is coming to New Zealand later this year.
The region is looking for volunteers to help out across the region with games, festivals, team hosting and a bevy of other exciting activities that are planned as part of the Rugby World Cup 2011.
Volunteers will get to connect to new people in their communities, help out international and local visitors, receiving training relating to their role and also get a cool uniform.
Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Operations Manager Mike Rogers said volunteering gave many people a great deal of satisfaction and would also help the region ensure that it put on a great event.
“People who volunteer will be helping to ensure that the Bay of Plenty did a really good job of celebrating this international event and that we were well organised, friendly and a fantastic and exciting destination to visit – the legacy will be great for the whole region,” Mr Rogers said.
“In addition to the three games that the region is hosting in Rotorua, there will be five teams staying in Tauranga and Rotorua, as well as events being organised as part of the REAL New Zealand Festival, and other activities festivals. We need volunteers to help us host these teams and run these events – particularly to be out on the day helping other people.
“We don’t need everyone to work right through the event so even if you think you can only spare a few days or even a week – we can still use your help.”
Registrations for volunteers in the Bay of Plenty close soon, so we encourage you to visit http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/destinationnewzealand/involved/volunteers.html and sign up to help us make the Rugby World Cup 2011 a huge success for our region.
