Tararua District Council will have collection boxes available at all the Town Service Centres, Libraries and the Woodville i-SITE for people wishing to donate to a Tararua Mayoral Fund.

“This latest disaster is going to impact greatly on the people of Christchurch and we feel for all those people who are grieving for lost loved ones and for the terrible upheaval in their lives. We are very aware of the many householders and businesses who will be greatly affected, especially as so much infrastructure has been decimated” Mayor Roly Ellis said.

“We also want to express these feelings in a practical way and already our Chief Executive Blair King, as part of the Urban Search and Rescue Team is in Christchurch. We have also offered any other help we can by way of building personnel” he said.

Council will be forwarding money collected so it can be used in the most appropriate manner.
