Two-minute silence for quake victims to be held at Taupō cenotaph
At 12:51pm tomorrow (Tuesday 1st March) a nationwide two-minute silence will be held to remember the victims of the Christchurch earthquake last Tuesday.
Taupō district residents are encouraged to join together tomorrow at any of the town centres for this remembrance time. Taupō will meet at the cenotaph area outside the Great Lake Centre, and at the town centres for both Turangi and Mangakino.
Already the idea to wear red and black tomorrow for the people of Canterbury is circulating, and those wishing to do so are encouraged to.
A condolence book will also be available to sign at the cenotaph in Taupo, which will be sent to Christchurch in the coming weeks. This book will also be available at the Taupō Public Library for anyone to sign at any time.
