Calling CBD Businesses: Want a Travel Plan?
Can your business plan its work travel better?
How about helping your staff become healthier, and reducing your vehicle costs?
New Plymouth District Council is asking business owners in New Plymouth’s CBD who are interested in developing travel plans to get in touch.
“We’ll sit down with businesses and help them lower the cost of operating their fleet and reduce congestion,” says Let’s Go Project Manager Carl Whittleston.
“Travel planning can really make a huge difference, especially with fuel prices so high now.
“A good travel plan will help an organisation use walking, cycling, bussing and ride-sharing to reduce the number of vehicles, and also encourage people to reconsider how they’re using their cars.”
The Council will provide options for how an organisation can support its employees in their efforts to switch to sustainable transport – including identifying safe walking and cycling routes, the development of changing facilities and bike lock-ups, and staff incentives.
“Some organisations already have the bones of a travel plan and just need a bit of help to bring it all together, while others will be starting from scratch. We want to hear from those who want to be involved,” says Mr Whittleston.
People can register their organisations online through newplymouthnz.com/letsgo, or email enquiries@npdc.govt.nz for a starter pack by 8 April.
This is the first stage of the Council’s travel planning project, with the next stage intended to invite businesses outside New Plymouth’s CBD to participate.
