The SUBWAY® Pro Cycling Team is again in action in both the North and South Island this weekend.

This Saturday sees Paul Odlin, Dillon Bennett, Sam Horgan and Jason Allen line up in the 101 kilometre Forest Estate Graperide in Marlborough while Matt Gorter and Westley Gough race in the Rotorua to Taupo 100 kilometre flyer.

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling Manager Hayden Godfrey feels the team is building well towards next month’s UCI Tour de Korea, with local domestic racing playing an important role in preparing for the tough overseas events.

“The team is looking to Jason (Allen) to go one place better than last year’s second placed result at Graperide, and Paul (Odlin) won the event in 2008 so we’re keen to build on that success again on Saturday.”

“It’s important they get some good hard racing in as we prepare for our second international tour of the year in Korea.”

Allen in particular has been in good form winning the R & R Tour in Otago recently after picking up two national titles on the track. Invercargill based Bennett has also been in good form winning both the road race and time trial titles at last weekend’s Southland Cycling Championships.

Gough is keen to put aside his recent disappointment at missing a spot with the New Zealand track team that competed in last week’s world champs held in the Netherlands.
