Nominations Open for Citizens' Awards
It’s time for the unsung heroes in our communities to be recognised for their efforts.
Nominations have opened for the Citizens’ Awards 2011, and residents are urged to let New Plymouth District Council know about their local champions.
“These are the people who are always there to lend a hand to community groups or organisations, or whose work has made a significant contribution to the well-being of our district,” says Mayor Harry Duynhoven.
“Often their role is well-known to people within that sector or organisation but not to the wider community, and we want to change that by honouring them with a Citizens’ Award.
“So whether you’re in business, charity, education or another sector of the community and you know an ordinary person who does extraordinary things for our district, nominate them for an award.”
Nomination forms are available from Council offices and online at newplymouthnz.com.
Nominations close on Friday 6 May.
