New Features on DCC Website Improve Functionality
Constantly seeking to improve the user experience of the DCC website, the DCC’s web and information management teams have added a couple of new features.
Following customer enquiries about collection days for the new recycling system, an interactive map was developed, showing blue and yellow areas each week. Users can search by a specific address or simply look at the expanded map. The map shows the day of collection and is shaded in either blue or yellow to indicate which bin should be put out that week. (www.dunedin.govt.nz/collection-days)
Next off the rank, and going live on Tuesday 26 April, will be a significantly enhanced street map view. Customer feedback has indicated that users prefer a ‘Google maps’ style of interactivity, with the user able to search, zoom and switch between street map view and photographic view. The new maps will be faster and more intuitive, improving the user’s experience. (www.dunedin.govt.nz/streetmap - this link will be live from Tuesday 26 April)
The DCC has also started including videos on its website. At this early stage, there are two videos, of walking tracks in the city. It is anticipated the use of video will grow as more people, both users and staff see the value in this medium. (www.dunedin.govt.nz/walking-tracks - ‘Bush walks’ and ‘Skyline’)
The cost of these improvements to date, including the video production, has been only in staff time.
