Hastings District Council 2011 Civic Honours Awards, will recognise those who have contributed significantly to the community.

Six individuals and two groups are to receive their awards from the Mayor of Hastings, Lawrence Yule, at a ceremony to be held in the Council Chambers on Monday May 2nd at 6pm.

The winners have been chosen by the Council’s Civic Pride committee from a list of nominated people, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for our community.

Mayor Yule says” each of the winners has made a significant contribution to the community and has put in countless hours of voluntary work to ensure their knowledge and expertise in their chosen field is passed on to others.

“These awards recognise residents for their dedication, perseverance and tenacity in helping teach or nurture others over what has generally been, a long period of time” Lawrence Yule says.

Awards will be presented for arts, culture, health, recreation, youth, education sport and welfare.
