HAWKE'S BAY

Some roads which were closed due to flooding around the coastal areas of Hawke’s Bay have begun to reopen.

The township of Clifton is again accessible after being isolated due to flooding yesterday.

The road to Ocean Beach remains closed and is likely to remain so for at least the next 24 hours.

The township of Waimarama remains isolated and the road closed, after the bridge leading into the town was damaged by floodwaters.

A temporary bridge will be installed and it is hoped the road can be reopened between 3 and 4 this afternoon.

The water supply at Waimarama remains turned off but is likely to be restored by early evening.

There is surface flooding in Te Awanga with water surrounding some houses. A house to house reconnaissance is being conducted to make sure all residents are safe.

Tukituki Road has reopened after being closed overnight.
