Doritos is excited to announce the arrival of two new spicy flavours, Hot Mexican Salsa and Thai Sweet Chilli – but only one will survive the ultimate Battle of the Flavours, and NZ corn chip lovers have the power to decide.

The two flavours will be available nationwide for just 8 weeks before one of them is defeated and deleted. Doritos fans can help decide which flavour sticks around by voting for their favourite at battleoftheflavours.com – plus there’s a chance to win a daily cash prize of $1,000 and an overall prize of $10,000 just for voting!

Each flavour will be represented by a pro-wrestling character, El Macho (Hot Mexican Salsa) and Thai Phoon (Thai Sweet Chilli), who will literally fight it out at battleoftheflavours.com, performing wrestling moves on each other as submitted by consumers. The best submitted moves will be filmed using actors and posted on the website plus there’s $1,000 up for grabs for the best fight move that’s submitted.

Will the Thai Burn help Thai Phoon take it out? Or will El Macho own him with the One-Finger Slap – it’s up to NZ to decide who sticks around.

“Doritos fans were telling us they wanted a spicy flavour in the range,” said Lisa King, Group Brands Manager for Bluebird. “We got it down to two flavours and thought, ‘hey, why don’t we put the power in the hands of our consumers to vote for their favourite?’”

“We’re inviting Doritos lovers to join the battle arena online and be in to win some of the fantastic prize pool,” added King.

Doritos is the world’s best selling snack brand. It was launched locally in March 2010, and is now the number one corn chip brand in New Zealand.
