With more than 600,000 New Zealanders affected by asthma, healthy home ventilation
specialist HRV is doing what it can to help Kiwis breathe easier in their own homes.

As the principal sponsors of this year’s Asthma Foundation Balloon Day on April 29th, HRV is
focussed on raising funds and generating awareness for this important issue.

The HRV system is an officially recognised product in the Asthma and Respiratory
Foundation’s Sensitive Choice programme as it helps to reduce asthma and allergy triggers
within the home such as dust mites and airborne pollutants.

“We are very proud of our association with the Asthma Foundation and are committed
to helping New Zealanders living with asthma to create a healthy home environment by
eliminating key asthma triggers,” says HRV’s Chief Executive, Bruce Gordon.

Many New Zealand homes are poorly insulated and lack proper heating or ventilation which
aggravates conditions such as asthma. The HRV home ventilation system takes free, warm
air from the roof cavity which is then filtered and circulated throughout the home. It expels
stale air and removes dust and pollutants making for a drier and healthier home.

Asthma Awareness Week will take place from 27 April – 3 May 2011 with Balloon Day on 29
April. This year’s event will focus on the high prevalence of asthma among children in New
Zealand and reducing hospitalisation rates among people with asthma.
