The Rotorua Museum and Rotorua District Library have both picked up trophies in the 2011 Rotorua’s Top Business Awards.

The Library won the Community Category and the Museum won the Tourism Category.

The awards are a result of a popular vote by Rotorua Residents and are sponsored by local radio station Classic Hits and the Daily Post.

The Museum and Library each picked up a trophy and $1500 advertising package.

Museum Sales & Marketing Manager Jo Doherty said it was absolutely fantastic to be recognised by locals as their top tourism experience.

“There are some amazing things for people to do around Rotorua so it's a credit to all our staff that we’ve come out on top.”

Library Manager Jane Gilbert said the advertising package would really come in handy as library staff were always working on a tight budget.

“I’m absolutely thrilled. I know my staff are too. It's great that this recognises their customer service," said Jane.

Rotorua District Council chief executive Peter Guerin said the awards recognised two outstanding and highly professional council operations and were acknowledgement of the superb services they are providing to the Rotorua community.
