New Residents Invited to Welcoming Function
Are you new to the district, or have you returned after living elsewhere?
New Plymouth District Council is holding a Welcome to the District function to formally welcome those who have shifted here – whether from elsewhere in New Zealand or from overseas.
“It has been 18 months since the last function so there will be plenty of people who have shifted to our community during that time,” says Mayor Harry Duynhoven.
“It’s a great opportunity for those who have chosen to live in our district to meet each other and socialise, and to be officially welcomed to their new home.
“I’d also like to invite those who have moved here temporarily, particularly from Christchurch as a result of the earthquakes.”
Lynn Bublitz, Chair of the International Relations Working Party, says the function is great way for those new to the country to meet people.
“The fastest way for international new residents to become settled is to make friends and contacts in their new home, and the Welcome to the District Function is a great way to do that,” he says.
Those interested in coming to the June function can request an invitation from New Plymouth District Council by phoning 06-759 6060 or emailing enquiries@npdc.govt.nz.
