Looking for a great team-building exercise? How about signing up for a corporate planting day in one of Greater Wellington’s regional parks?

“Planting season is upon us, and there are thousands of plants just waiting to go into the ground in our regional parks. Community volunteer groups do amazing environmental restoration work but there’s a lot to do – and a helping hand from businesses and other organisations can make a huge difference to planting projects,” says Cr Nigel Wilson, Chair of Greater Wellington’s Social and Cultural Wellbeing Committee (this committee is responsible for regional parks).

“The benefits are great for businesses too. You get a day out of the office in a beautiful environment, a bit of physical activity, and the satisfaction of knowing that you’re taking part in environmental work that will benefit the wider community for generations to come,” says Cr Wilson.

Greater Wellington coordinates the planting days by providing all the plants, staff including a ranger to supervise, barbecue facilities, and spare gloves and spades. All the participating business needs to do is bring their staff along, and provide food and people to cook it.
