The quest is on to replicate the smell of Lane's Emulsion
Whether you loved it or loathed it – the smell of Lane’s Emulsion was memorable. The North Otago Museum is inviting you to re-create that unique smell. The odour judged closest to Lane’s Emulsion will be used as part of a new exhibition the museum is planning. Curator Chloe Searle says “the first thing people mention about Lane’s is the smell. I really want visitors who never had Lane’s Emulsion to be able to experience that.”
Here’s what you need to know: Anyone can enter. Please bring a small sample of the scent (about half a cup is enough) and your recipe for making it into the North Otago Museum by 31 May. The entrees will be judged by a former employee of Lane’s Emulsion and a descendant of Edward Lane the original inventor. The prize for the winning entry is a voucher for The Loan & Merc. We will let you know the results in June.
