Funding for creative applicants

MANAWATU-WHANGANUI

SIX organisations and individuals in the Manawatu District have received more than $12,000 in the Creative Communities Scheme’s first round of funding for 2011.

The scheme provides financial help to projects that stimulate local arts activity, both established and new, and encourages greater participation.

The successful applicants are:
Ensemble Impact Educational Trust – for presenting selected scenes from New Zealand plays “live” in local schools in June, $1069.

Ben Sablerolle, Homeblown Glass Studio – working with students at Kimbolton, Apiti and Kiwitea in glass art, $780 plus GST.

Feilding Promotion – to invite students to design and make 28 street banners to hang in Manchester Square for the Rugby World Cup Festival, $1240 plus GST.

Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre Trust Society Inc. – for workshops to help students prepare for the Wearable Arts Competition and create decorations for the show, $3940, and to run after-school art classes in northern Manawatu, $713.

Feilding Brass Inc. – for Feilding’s 18th Festival of Bands on June 12, $630.
Concept220 – production of five murals from schools to be assembled outside Makino Aquatic Centre, $3695.

Applications for funding for the next round will be in August.
