Future of Park Island

Take a drive past the Park Island sports grounds any given Saturday – winter or summer – and it will be bustling with people of all ages playing the sport they love. Park Island is the jewel in the crown of Napier’s sports ground network and has served the city well since its initial development three decades ago.

Napier City Council is preparing a 20-year master plan for the expansion and development of Park Island sports grounds and your views are sought to ensure Napier continues to provide quality facilities for outdoor sport.

After all, it is the central facility for club competition for a wide range of sports in the city, and regularly hosts major inter regional and national tournaments. It is also an important destination for people wanting to engage in more passive recreation activities, such as walking and picnicking. What are your expectations for the future of Park Island?
