Two areas adjacent to New Plymouth’s Coastal Walkway are getting a spruce-up, while a gravel section of the walkway is about to be paved.

The short length of gravel path at the Fitzroy Beach Holiday Park will be concreted during the next three weeks, making the connection from the surf club to the camping ground consistent with the rest of the walkway.

Meanwhile, small areas around the Wind Wand Car Park are being concreted for the benefit of pedestrians, and a playground at East End Reserve is having replacement equipment installed.

“At the car park we’re creating a concrete path through the garden from the traffic lights to the parking area, and smoothing out some corners for the benefit of mobility scooter riders,” says Mark Bruhn.

“At the East End playground at the end of Buller Street, we’ve removed the old play equipment and are bringing in new ones so that kids can experience something different.”

Work at the Wind Wand Car Park and Fitzroy Beach Holiday Park have begun, while the playground site will be fenced off early next week and will reopen before the end of the month (weather permitting).
