Southland District Council Approves Major Roading Contracts

Southland District Council approved three major roading contracts worth an overall value of over $2 million at its meeting in Invercargill yesterday (subs September 26).

Asset Manager Roading Russell Hawkes said the approved work for the first contract included shape correction of 0.8km of Seaward Downs Gorge Road and 1.4km of Tokanui Gorge Road Highway.

The tender was awarded to SouthRoads Ltd for a total price of $475,876.00.

The second contract was for Winton area shape correction work (1.61 km of GapRoad West and 0.42 km of the Otautau-Drummond Road), which was awarded to Central Western Roading Ltd for $365,884.00.

Finally, Downer EDI Works won the contract for Central Area Pavement Marking for just under $1.2 million (all figures are excluding GST). All the work is due to commence in October.
