Making your business green

Sustainable businesses are cost-efficient and productive, attract and retain loyal customers, and offer a great place to work. Soon you’ll be able to get advice and support to help your business succeed through becoming more sustainable.

We’ll be working with Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Sustainability Business Network (SBN) to deliver a range of information, workshops and networking events with the aim is to encourage more businesses to act. There’s also funding to assist you in getting started to help you with expertise and advice to reduce cost through smart resource use.

The Sustainability Business Network has been at the forefront of assisting and encouraging businesses them to choose sustainable options for many years and Hutt City Council has sponsored their work in Lower Hutt in recent years. With a membership of over 700 businesses and a significantly larger database the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce has a wide reach into local businesses.

"To us the Chamber and SBN are the ideal partners to spread the sustainability message wider," says Nicholas Lucas, City Development Manager. "We’re stoked they’re teaming up with us to encourage more businesses to take their sustainability actions up a notch."
