Vote Today!
Voting papers for this year’s local body elections have been in the hands of most voters for at least a week. However, Franklin District Council has reported that so far just over 10% of papers have been returned. With only two weeks to go before Election Day on 13th October 2007 Council is telling people to get voting!
“We have received just over 4,000 voting papers but we hope to get a lot more before Election Day,” says Pam Hovelle, Franklin District Council’s Electoral Officer. “Most people mean to vote but time slips away from them and before they know it they have lost their chance. That’s why we want to encourage you to get voting.”
Local newspapers have been providing great coverage of the candidates, Franklin District Council has the candidate profiles available on their website (www.franklin.govt.nz) and several meet the candidate meetings have occurred. Every voter should have also received a candidate handbook with their voting papers.
“There is plenty of information out there about the candidates and what they stand for so that you can make an informed choice,” says Pam.
