Field days focus on the ins and outs of effluent management
Following the success of last season’s effluent field days, Environment Waikato, Federated Farmers, Fonterra and Dexcel are running another five in October.
Focused on day to day aspects of effluent management, the field days will cover a range of topics including how to set up an effluent system, the latest developments in effluent management, storage of effluent, deferred irrigation, staff training and Environment Waikato regulations for managing dairy effluent.
“Last season’s field days were well attended and the feedback we received indicated that there is a big need for this kind of information, especially for new farm staff,” said Environment Waikato sustainable agriculture coordinator Gabriele Kaufler.
“Hosted on farms in the Cambridge, Ohinewai, Morrinsville, Te Awamutu and Waiuku areas, the days are very practical and are a great opportunity for farmers to have their questions answered by a range of industry experts.
“We hope dairy farmers and their staff will take the time to attend one of the days.”
All field days start at 10.30am and run to 12.30pm. Lunch will follow.
