AUCKLAND

Over the past few months we’ve been developing the first ever Maungakiekie-Tamaki local board plan. This plan will guide the Local Board’s decision-making and actions for the next three years.

We have been finding out what is important to the people who live in the area and how our community can be an even better place to live. People have given us their views at meetings, by filling in surveys, by making a submission to the draft Annual Plan and Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board Agreement 2011/2012, and by talking with local board members. We received a lot of valuable and well thought out ideas, which is reflected in our draft plan. Thank you to all of you who took part in this process. If you’d like to see a summary of what we were told, go to www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/localboardplans, and click on ‘Your views so far’ in the green menu on the left-hand side.

The Maungakiekie-Tamaki draft local board plan will be released on Friday 8 July. You will be able to view it online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/localboardplans, or you can grab a hard copy from our office at 7-13 Pilkington Rd (beside Panmure Library), or one of our local libraries in Glen Innes, Onehunga or Panmure. Alternatively call Auckland Council’s 24-hour call centre on 301-0101 to get one posted out to you. You will also receive a summary of it in your letterbox next week, along with a submission form.

We’d like to hear what you think of our draft plan, and our proposed priorities and projects. We warmly invite you to one of our community meetings to hear more about the plan, and make a submission:

  • Wednesday 13 July, 6-8pm, Panmure Community Hall, 7-13 Pilkington Rd
  • Thursday 14 July, 6-8pm, Onehunga Community House, 83 Selwyn St
  • Wednesday 20 July, 10.30am-12.30pm, Onehunga Community House, 83 Selwyn St
  • Thursday 21 July, 6-8pm, Riverside Community Centre, corner Bernard St & Peace Ave
  • Friday 22 July, 12-2pm, Glen Innes Community Hall, 96 Line Rd
  • We are also holding a forum specifically for Pacific Peoples on Thursday 28 July, 6-8pm at the Panmure Community Hall, 7-13 Pilkington Rd.

Making a submission is easy – it’s just like writing a letter! You can send us your letter in the following ways:

  • post it (without a stamp!) to Local Board Services, Freepost 237802, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300, Auckland 1142
  • fax it to (09) 570 3846
  • email it to Maungakiekie.TamakiBoard@AucklandCouncil.govt.nz
  • submit it online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/MTLB
  • drop it off at any library or Auckland Council service centre
  • bring it in to our office at 7-13 Pilkington Rd (beside Panmure Library)
  • Submissions close at 4pm on Monday 8 August.

Please feel free to phone our office on 09 570 3840 if you have any questions or need any help.

Thank you again for being part of developing your local board plan.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings or hearing from you!
