Thai Sweet Chilli has come out on top in Doritos Battle of the Flavours
After an intense battle, Thai Sweet Chilli has been revealed as the winning flavour in Doritos Battle of the Flavours, knocking out Hot Mexican Salsa with a roundhouse kick.
In April, Doritos announced the arrival of two new spicy flavours, Hot Mexican Salsa and Thai Sweet Chilli – only one could survive the ultimate Battle of the Flavours, and NZ corn chip lovers had the power to decide. The two flavours were available nationwide for 8 weeks and Doritos fans were asked to vote for their favourite flavour at battleoftheflavours.com – some lucky voters even took away daily cash prizes of $1,000.
Adding more spice to the competition, each flavour was represented by a pro-wrestling character, El Macho (Hot Mexican Salsa) and Thai Phoon (Thai Sweet Chilli), who went head to head at battleoftheflavours.com, performing wrestling moves on each other as submitted by consumers. The best submitted moves were filmed using actors and posted to the site – and those who submitted these moves walked away with a thousand bucks cash!
Hot Mexican Salsa fought it out to the last crumb but it’s Thai Sweet Chilli that has firmly cemented itself on the shelves.
