WELLINGTON CITY

The finishing touches are being made to lower Cuba Street - an area where pedestrians now have priority.

If you are driving through or parking, please remember to keep your speed to walking pace and give way to pedestrians - even on a green light.

Vehicle and cycle access is one way - from Manners Street to Wakefield Street and the maximum speed limit is 10 km/h.

If you are walking through, check out the new rain gardens at either end. These are planted areas that filter and make use of the stormwater before any surplus ends up in the drains below - reducing harbour pollution and the need to water the trees and native grasses.

Please take extra care at each end of the street where vehicles exit and enter. These crossing points are like others in the central city.

New parking machines have been installed in the area.
