Boardriders to put down roots
Mangahume South Beach near Opunake will be enhanced with hundreds of trees on Friday (8 July) thanks to local surfers and students.
In a project organised by the Opunake Boardriders Club with support from the Taranaki Tree Trust and the Honda TreeFund, more than 500 trees will be planted on the coastal strip just south of the town.
The planting will begin at 9.30am, with school pupils also lending a hand. Access is via Arnold Hickey’s property at 4025 South Road.
“The Taranaki Tree Trust is proud to support local grassroots efforts to protect and improve our environment, and is grateful for the support of the Honda TreeFund,” says the Trust Chairman, Michael Joyce. “The public will be most welcome to attend this event.”
