The Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) Roadshow is touring New Zealand throughout July and will be at the Tongariro North Domain in Taupō on 18 July for one morning only. TV ONE’s Tamati Coffey will be hosting the event, and will be joined locally by Sir Colin Meads and NZ Master Chef finalist Traceylee Hooton.

The RWC 2011 Roadshow kicked off in Bluff on 4 July and is currently making its way up the country. It will visit 27 towns along the way, bringing with it the Webb Ellis Cup, and TV ONE Breakfast Show presenter Tamati Coffey, who will broadcast live from each location. Tamati will be paying homage to Wales as part of the regular Breakfast showcase on RWC playing countries, so wear red, white and green on the day. The two best dressed fans will each win two RWC 2011 match tickets.

The Roadshow is designed to give New Zealanders a taste of the excitement of the Tournament, as well as a host of experiences from the REAL New Zealand Festival that will occur in September and October. The travelling show will arrive in Taupō on Monday 18 July at the Tongariro North Domain and will run from 6.30 to 9.30am.

The Roadshow features a custom-designed truck, which opens into a 72sq metre events venue, featuring interactive displays and videos on Rugby World Cup history and legends. The Taupō event will feature some unique appearances, including our Taupō 2011 Ambassador Sir Colin ‘Pinetree’ Meads, and Town Centre Taupō General Manager and NZ Master Chef finalist Traceylee Hooton, who will be cooking a special breakfast for Tamati.

Outside the truck, a marquee will preview some of the REAL New Zealand Festival experiences to be held in Taupō during RWC 2011, including the Clean Energy Expo and the Annual Sika Show. People can also have their photo taken with the Webb Ellis Cup, and win or buy RWC 2011 tickets.

Deputy Mayor and Chair of the RWC 2011 Host Coordination Committee, Mike Downard, says the roadshow is not to be missed. “It doesn’t matter if you’re not a rugby fan, there will be lots to do and see. Rugby World Cup 2011 is going to be one massive party, and this will give people a taste of what it will be like. Make sure to dress up and support one of our host countries; Wales, Ireland or South Africa.”
