New-Look Playground Ready for School Holidays
The revamped East End Playground has reopened for use today (Monday).
Manager Parks Operations Stuart Robertson says he’s pleased the playground has opened in time for the school holidays.
“It’s a very popular playground for kids and adults, especially as it’s right beside the Coastal Walkway, so it’s great that it can be used during the holiday period,” he says.
“We’ve got some fantastic new features in there, and the site includes timber and boulder landscaping details to reflect the coastal location.”
The playground features a sandpit with a little digger, a Supernova spinning ring, a nest swing, a pole forest and a slide.
CushionFall material has also been laid, for safety.
The Council upgraded five playgrounds in the district during 2010/11, and four more are scheduled during the coming 12 months.
