Nominations for Creative Communities Committee Members
Napier City Council is inviting nominations from community representatives to be part of the Creative Communities Scheme Committee. In accordance with Creative New Zealand criteria and Council, the Creative Communities Scheme Committee are responsible for assessing and deciding grant allocations of $38,215 per year, to support and encourage local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities, within the Napier area.
The Creative Communities Scheme is a partnership between Creative New Zealand (the national arts development agency) and local councils in New Zealand. Under the scheme “the arts” is defi ned as “all forms of creative and interpretative expression”.
Each council takes responsibility for delivering the scheme in its area. Local decision making is the key to the scheme and applications are considered by an assessment committee, who have knowledge and experience of the arts in their area.
The nominees should have a broad knowledge of the arts activities in the community, an understanding of fi nancial statements and must be available for meetings during the day. We are seeking four people from diverse areas of the arts which include young people, recent migrants, Asian residents, and local Pasifi ka people.
This Committee plays an important part in growing arts in the Napier community and we encourage all appropriately skilled, experienced and committed people to make an application.
