Auckland Council’s iconic Music in Parks and Movies in Parks summer events are now accepting submissions from artists for the 2012 series.

Now in their 19th year, these free events present a unique opportunity for musicians to gain exposure to new audiences.

You don’t have to be an Auckland-based musician to be part of these great entertainment experiences. Artists from out of town are welcome to apply.

Music in Parks 2012

Music in Parks runs from January to March and is made up of three different series, each with their own genre of music.

  • Summer Sounds are multi-billed concerts featuring celebrated and upcoming artists of popular music.
  • Jazz at the Rotunda showcases New Zealand’s rich pool of talented jazz and blues musicians.
  • The Culture Garden presents a range of niche music genres to entertain and inspire.

Past programmes have seen top acts such as Anika Moa and The Datsuns, and jazz artists Mike Nock and Godfrey de Grut grace the stage.

Movies in Parks 2012

A highlight on Auckland’s calendar of events, Movies in the Parks presents live music followed by a feature-length movie and runs from February to March. Previous line-ups have included artists Collapsing Cities, Bannerman and Glass Owls.

For more information and to make a submission for either Music in Parks or Movies in Parks go to www.musicinparks.co.nz.
