Changes to on-street parking in Hamilton’s CBD will come into effect from 1 August, in
order to align and simplify central city parking restrictions.

From Monday, 1 August the time limit for all on-street metered parks and pay-anddisplay parks in the central city will be increased to 120 minutes and will cost $2 per

hour from Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays and public holidays on-street parking in
the CBD will be free, however time limits will apply.

Parking in Victoria Street between Collingwood and Hood Streets will also change to
create more general parking spaces in the central area.

Hamilton City Council General Manager Works and Services Chris Allen said the
changes aim to “simplify the parking restrictions in the area and provide greater
flexibility and convenience for central city visitors”.

Blue regulatory stickers will be applied to all of the central city’s 800 parking meters to
provide key information about the new on-street parking arrangements, replacing the
previous yellow stickers. Parking signage will also be updated to reflect the changes.

This will be supported by a promotional campaign, informing the public of the parking
changes and encouraging them to ‘double up and enjoy more time in the city’.

The changes are the first stage of the Access Hamilton Parking Management Plan,
which has the objective of ensuring city parking supports Hamilton’s future economic
and social performance.
