An ethnic food market is proposed for Pollard Park.

The Marlborough District Council has had an approach from Jamie Son, who already runs a coffee cart at the park at the weekend.

Mr Son is interested in setting up a market that could have up to ten food carts offering a range of ethnic foods.

It’s suggested the food market could be located quite near the playground and public toilet facilities, a central spot in the park that is well used by families at the weekends.

Council’s Assets and Services Committee chairman Graeme Taylor and Council staff are working on the proposal although it is still in its preliminary stages.

Council has not yet received a formal application for resource consent and has yet to consider issues like rubbish, power and parking.
