QUEENSTOWN

New Zealand’s premier visitor destination is celebrating Rugby World Cup 2011 with a 300 night Queenstown hotel giveaway during September and October.

While Queenstown isn’t hosting any games, a visit to the stunning lake and alpine resort town will be a ‘must’ on many visitor itineraries.

So to celebrate RWC 2011 being held in New Zealand and to show that Queenstown is great value whatever the occasion, Destination Queenstown is running a week-long spring sweepstake to give potential visitors the chance to win 300 free hotel room nights.

The rooms are being generously provided by all 19 Queenstown members* of the New Zealand Hotel Council.

Anyone from around the world is welcome to enter the spring sweepstake which will open at 9am Monday 1 August and will close at 9am Monday 8 August (NZ time).

Destination Queenstown CEO Tony Everitt said “This is a great chance for international visitors to bag a bonus for their big trip and ‘kick back’ in Queenstown over spring while Kiwis looking for a great value getaway will love a spring break here.”

Mr Everitt said some concerns about accommodation price gouging in New Zealand during RWC 2011 has been a hard perception to shake off, even though the reality is totally different.

“We’re aware that some people might be putting off a trip because they think accommodation may be expensive or hard to find. In fact here in Queenstown there’s still very good availability in our hotels and across all accommodation types and price ranges, from budget to five-star, during September and October,” he said.

To make the free rooms giveaway really worthwhile, each winner will receive two consecutive nights for two people at their respective hotel, so 150 lucky winners and a partner or friend will have time to enjoy a good taste of Queenstown’s world-famous hospitality and affordable fun.

“We suspect there’ll be a few winners who may want to stay longer,” said Mr Everitt.

“As well as heaps of great events on over the two months, including a Classic All Blacks versus French Classics rugby match, Taste Queenstown food, wine and arts festivals and the Queenstown Jazz Festival, it’s also the perfect time to visit for some spring skiing, golf, hiking or biking, as the town shrugs off colder winter temperatures in favour of sunny spring days.”

All details on how to enter the spring sweepstake can be found on the home page of Destination Queenstown’s website www.queenstownNZ.co.nz. Air New Zealand is also helping spread the word with its more than 300,000 Facebook and Twitter followers around the world.

Winners will be drawn on 8 August and notified shortly after. The offer is valid for bookings made between 1 September and 31 October 2011 and must be requested at the time of booking.
