Khandallah Town Hall Upgrade

As it approaches its 100th birthday, Khandallah Town Hall has undergone a major restoration and adaptation to meet changing community needs.

The upgrade was initiated by the Khandallah Community Forum and Onslow-Western Ward Councillor John Morrison, who has been a long-time advocate of the project.

The Council contributed $1.07 million and the rest of the funds were raised by the Khandallah Community Forum and the Khandallah Cornerstone Resource Centre Trust.

The major upgrade and extensions will enable the building to meet the current and future needs of the community and remain the heart of Khandallah Village for another 100 years.

The facade has been restored to its original design while the interior has been transformed into a multi-use facility that makes better use of space without compromising the main hall.

The upgrade included:

• new meeting and activity rooms
• ramp access and lifts to make the building fully accessible
• new kitchen and toilet facilities
• relocating the Cornerstone Community Centre to the town hall
• refurbishing the First World War honours board.

Opening celebrations are on this Sunday, starting at 2.00pm and are open to everyone. After a short ceremony, Mayor Celia Wade-Brown will cut the ribbon. This will be followed by afternoon tea and a chance for the public to explore the improved centre and see what's on offer.

Ganges Road between Agra Crescent and Dekka Street will be closed to vehicles from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
