Hutt City youth initiatives underway

Hutt City Mayor Ray Wallace has initiated a Mayoral Citation for community service and leadership by the youth of the Lower Hutt.

The citation was confirmed by the Hutt City Council at its recent meeting with recipients being announced in September.

The council has also decided to develop a new youth policy.

A Youth Survey taken last year is shortly to be released and highlights a number of issues affecting youth in Lower Hutt including places to “hang out.

”The Mayor believes youth are important to city and provide the foundation for its future.
