Local young people have shown their talent and have put on two great events celebrating the diversity and talents of young people and local residents.

All thanks to their planning and leadership, supported by the team from Hutt City Council.

The Stage Kings Dance Academy in Wainuiomata headlined a showcase of local young people that drew in crowd of 300 at “Youth Alive 2011” held in Wainuiomata Mall.

Community partnerships officer, Epirosa Robertson, was pleased to see the Expo part of Youth Alive event made a difference with a showcase of youth services on offer.

“Many people who attended the concert or were simply shopping could see there was real support for young people and parents alike in Wainuiomata.”

Young people were also the force behind the community mural along the back fence line of St Claudine’s Thevenet School launched by Mayor Ray Wallace on 15 July.

“It focussed on building positive youth participation through symbolism, colour and art and is dedicated to the celebration of life for youth in Wainuiomata.

“We’d like to thank everyone who made these two great events possible.”
