Community House hosts special guests for birthday
On Thursday 11 August the Napier Community House celebrates five years providing a centre point for vital community services in Hawke’s Bay.
Hon Tariana Turia, Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, will officiate the celebrations. The Minister will be hosted by Mayor Barbara Arnott and the Napier Community House Trust alongside the tenants.
“In the current economic climate with funding opportunities becoming more and more limited, the Napier Community House provides an innovative solution to managing the rising costs of service delivery, allowing our organisations to focus on providing services to our community,” Mayor Arnott says.
Councillor and Trust Chairman Dave Pipe says Community House provides essential services to the community and it is important to celebrate those who work there tirelessly with so much energy and commitment, as well as creating a welcoming and accessible environment for clients and visitors.
The community house concept is a cost effective model that operates in a number of cities across New Zealand. This multi-service accommodation means that organisations lower their costs by sharing resources. They also work together to improve their services to the community. The 600 people who visit the site every month, benefit by having the convenience of easy access to vital services in a central city location.
Services based at the Napier Community House include Peoples Advocacy Society, Napier Budget Advisory Service, Volunteering HB, Creative Napier, Information 4 Disability Trust, Family Planning Health Promotions, SADD, Literacy Aotearoa HB, Epilepsy HB and Disability Resource Centre HB.
