Hastings rates payment date extended

Hastings District Council has extended the date for the payment of this rates instalment by one week.

Council Chief Financial Officer Tony Gray says rates notices were delivered to the mail house early last week with the expectation that they would be with ratepayers by August 4th and 5th.

"It has now become apparent that the delivery of notices to some ratepayers in limited pockets of the district has been delayed," Mr Gray says.

“After investigating the issue, Council has decided that the delay could affect these ratepayers if we were to continue with the due date of August 19th.”

“In the interest of fairness to ratepayers, the date for the receipt of payments has been extended to August 26th, 2011.”

However, customers who pay their rates via direct debit are unaffected by this change and their payments will be processed on August 19th 2011 as scheduled.
