New Zealand Rugby clubs ramp-up action

Right across New Zealand local Kiwi Rugby clubs are gearing up to share their RWC 2011 experience with international visitors...

“For visiting Rugby fans, the chance to get together with Kiwi Rugby fans at their local clubrooms means they can get a whole lot more out of their trip to New Zealand for the Tournament,” says Leon Grice, Director of the NZ 2011 Office.

Rugby clubs all over New Zealand, such as those in Petone, Dunedin and Nelson, are opening their doors to NZ 2011 Business Club members in September and October, offering fans plenty of grassroots Rugby experiences.

The inclusion of New Zealand Rugby club hospitality with all the other great hosting events means there’s plenty for NZ 2011 Business Club members as they travel the long way round between matches.

From the Junior World Series Rugby Tournament on Auckland’s North Shore, to New Zealand’s oldest club, Nelson Rugby Football Club, holding a re-enactment of the first Rugby game in New Zealand, locals and visitors alike will get the chance to get their fill of Kiwi club Rugby first-hand.

The NZ 2011 Business Club connects international fans coming to New Zealand for the Tournament, with local hosts who are also mad-keen followers of Rugby. Leon says “The Business Club is about enjoyment, first and foremost, but it’s also about the possibility of making connections through Rugby.”

“No matter where in the world you’re from, if you’re going to be in New Zealand for the Rugby sign up to the Business Club and let us do the work,” says Leon. “We’ll link you up with like-minded Kiwis and invite you to hosted events, such as those offered by local Rugby clubs.”

The key to Business Club success is locals hosting visitors. “As a nation famous for sport and recreation, many of the events are focused on the outdoors; fishing in a local’s favourite spot, biking on the best mountain bike tracks, playing golf at exclusive courses, or perhaps soaking up the atmosphere at a local Rugby club.

But, as a nation also famous for its food and wine, there will certainly be plenty of local wine, crafted beer, and top-notch cuisine on offer too,” Leon says.
