Welsh Rugby Team to visit Hatepe in September

Hatepe has been chosen as an official RWC host, in conjunction with the Taupo District Council, to hold an event for the Welsh Rugby team who will be based in Taupo. There
are only 3 official Tuwharetoa events during the RWC and it is an honour to be chosen.

The Hatepe Project Committee is organising a Gala Dinner on Monday September 12
th for the Welsh Rugby team.

The Welsh team will be welcomed onto the marae with a Powhiri at 6.00pm.

Everyone will be able to mix and mingle with the team and invited special rugby guests,
including our own Maori All Blacks, Sir Colin Meads, dignitaries and Kaumatua (Elders).
Dinner will kick off at 6.30pm. Master of Ceremonies, MP Louisa Wall and Temuera Hall will
take guests on a journey of local club rugby of past years, acknowledging our past Maori All
Black greats through to celebrating grassroots maori rugby from within Ngati Tuwharetoa. A
big screen will play snippets of past rugby games.

Roving cameras will capture the people and events of the evening and play them on the screen.

Maori culture will be a big feature of the entertainment with kapa haka, music and singing
combined with singing from the Welsh.

Our other guests will also include an under XV Welsh provincial team who will play an
invitational Maori XV at the Waitahanui sports grounds on Monday afternoon at

The evening may also be linked live to a big screen at the Great Lake Centre.

There are two different pricing structures for the tables. The GOLD tables will sell for $1,750.00 for a table of 10 and will have 2 members of the Welsh team on them. The PLATINUM will sell for $1,250.00 for a table of 10. You can only purchase as tables.
These prices are inclusive of GST. Tables are very limited so get 8 people together for the Gold tables or 10 people for the Platinum tables.

Wine and beer will be provided with your meal, which will be Kai Moana and Hangi with a
traditional boil-up.
