Installation of parking machines gets underway

The installation of ‘pay and display’ parking machines and parking bay sensors in
Hamilton’s Worley Place and Riverbank Carpark will get underway this weekend.

The work will begin with the laying of concrete bases for the three ‘pay and display’
machines in Worley Place. The machines will offer cash, credit card and ‘text to park’
payment methods, and will issue printed slips for display on vehicle dashboards.

Next week sensors will then be installed in each of the parking bays along Worley Place.

Hamilton City Council Transportation Manager Phil Consedine said, rather than
enforcement, the sensors will be used to provide information about the usage of the
parks.

“The sensors will provide data about how often the parks are used and for what
duration, so we can gain an understanding of how the public are choosing to utilise
these parks,” he said.

Installation of a pay and display machine and parking bay sensors will also be carried
out in the Riverbank Carpark (previously known as Victoria St Carpark) next week.

The new pay and display machines and parking sensors in Worley Place and Riverbank
Carpark will be operational from 1 September.
