One week left for boundary submissions

SUBMITTERS have only one week left to air their views regarding one of the biggest decisions involving the political histories of the Manawatu District and Palmerston North City Councils.

More than 70 submissions have so far been received on a Draft Boundary Reorganisation Scheme involving the two councils. MDC Customer Services and Democracy Manager, Janine Hawthorn, urged any individual or organisation interested in making a submission to ensure they meet the closing deadline of 5pm, Thursday, September 8.

A Joint Boundary Committee, responsible for overseeing the process, will hear and consider the submissions between October 11 and 14 and make its decision by November 9 on whether or not the scheme should go ahead or be amended.
