The Māori King Tuheitia is today (Sept. 1) attending the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre Open Day.

King Tuheitia, who is an honorary patron of the centre, arrives at 2pm and there will be posed and un-posed photo opportunities for media. While the King will not be giving interviews, he releases the following statement:

King Tuheitia is delighted and impressed with the progress of the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre and applauds Anne Bailey, the Centre Director for her work. He is keenly interested in the innovation being applied to the teaching methodology that is uniquely the Hineraukatauri Music Therapy centre.

The King aims to continue to work behind the scenes with the Trustees, gathering support and assistance for the ongoing fundraising effort to help these challenged New Zealanders improve their health status and to live full and productive lives into the future.

He looks forward to the upcoming annual fundraiser.

The Open Day is a chance to see music therapy in action, talk with therapists and hear from parents and health and education professionals about the transformative power of music therapy.
